Feeling Duped Yet?

Thursday, June 25, 2009

You know that Obama's empty campaign rhetoric is becoming more and more transparent if the Human Rights Campaign is starting to notice. In response to the current administration's backing of DOMA, HRC president Joe Solmonese does what most liberals do when push comes to shove...

... Write a strongly worded letter.
As an American, a civil rights advocate, and a human being, I hold this administration to a higher standard than this brief. In the course of your campaign, I became convinced—and I still want to believe—that you do, too. I have seen your administration aspire and achieve. Protecting women from employment discrimination. Insuring millions of children. Enabling stem cell research to go forward. These are powerful achievements. And they serve as evidence to me that this brief should not be good enough for you. The question is, Mr. President—do you believe that it’s good enough for us?
One would imagine that the majority of the gay community who bought into all the hope and change would begin to see that it was nothing more than a slick politician playing a demographic to get elected. But considering Obama's stance on marriage has always been "between a man and a woman" (at least while he was running for the White House) and they still voted for him, I'm not holding my breath that his lack of action will give gay liberals that wake up call they so desperately need.

Questions You're NOT Supposed to Ask

From the Seattle Times:
More Seniors Using Vehicles as Shelter

But, "in our view, someone in an RV who is moving place to place ... is homeless," said Maria Foscarinis, executive director of the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty.
So that means that anybody who lives full time in an RV is "homeless"? Couldn't find any numbers on just how many people do so. Best I found was on GoRVing.com:
Thousands are part-time RV users, weekend and vacation travelers or seasonal “snowbirds." Thousands more – some estimates go as high as a million – live full time in their RVs.
Are we counting thousands or a million people as "homeless", when in fact they aren't?

Again, from the Times article:
Whenever he thinks of the cost of an apartment, he figures it would buy a lot of gas. He plans to save up the gas money to get to Oregon, where there's no sales tax. Every penny he can save will help.
Maybe Washington could help out by eliminating the sales tax? That would be a start, wouldn't it? And if liberals can direct their police to ignore the law in regard to illegal aliens, couldn't they direct their officers to ignore requests to ask homeless folks to "move along"? After all, it clearly hurts their feelings and they're living in constant fear of a knock at the door.

What's more, wasn't Socialist Stupidity designed to prevent such things from happening to Seasoned Citizens? What about the "War on Poverty"? Where's Chairman Obama's stimulus? Why hasn't he given a home to these folks?
