Dallas Woman Fuming Over Smoking Neighbor At Complex

A manager and attorney for Estancia Townhomes, a 52-building community near Prestonwood Country Club in North Dallas, said it's unlikely the Daniels sustained any smoke damage. There is a solid, two-hour fire wall from the foundation to the roof between each of the homes.

And even if some smell did seep through, the Daniels renewed their lease at Estancia – where smoking is permitted – six months after they say the problem began.
The only thing that stinks is whatever their ulterior motive is. But kudos on the gas masks! Nice touch! Loser pays anyone?

Texting Teen Falls Down Open Manhole on Staten Island
One second a Staten Island teenager was walking down the street, the next second she was gone.

Alexa Longueira was walking down Victory Boulevard and getting ready to text-message when she fell into an open sewer manhole. Now the city is trying to figure out why the manhole was left open and unblocked.

Alexa suffered some cuts and scrapes but is otherwise OK.

He mother says workers told her they left the manhole open and unattended for just seconds while they went to fetch some cones from their truck. [...]

Alexa's mom says it doesn't matter that her daughter was text-messaging, the manhole should not have been left open. The family plans to file as lawsuit.
Apparently in New York you can sue yourself for being an idiot. Who knew?

Obama: Iran Has Right To Nuclear Power
President Barack Obama reiterated that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy _ provided it takes steps to prove its aspirations are peaceful.

In a BBC interview broadcast Tuesday, Obama also restated plans to pursue direct diplomacy with Tehran to encourage it to set aside any ambitions for nuclear weapons it might harbor.

Iran has insisted its nuclear program is aimed at generating electricity. But the U.S. and other Western governments accuse Tehran of seeking atomic weapons.

"Without going into specifics, what I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations. On the other hand, the international community has a very real interest in preventing a nuclear arms race in the region," Obama said.

The comments echo remarks Obama made in Prague last month in which he said his administration would "support Iran's right to peaceful nuclear energy with rigorous inspections" if Iran proves it is no longer a nuclear threat.

Iranian state television described the news as Obama recognizing the "rights of the Iranian nation," a phrase typically used to refer to Iran's nuclear program.
Dear God protect us from ourselves and the children that were elected to lead us.

Take Five!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Dylan Avery, the film-making juggernaut behind the YouTube sensation "Loose Change" series is adding a fifth one for the archives.

Dramatically narrated by Daniel Sunjata, currently starring on FX’s critically acclaimed “Rescue Me” as Franco Rivera, “Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup” explores historical events that reshaped the world – from the Reichstag Fire in 1933 that catapulted Hitler to dictatorship - to the Gulf of Tonkin Incident in 1964 that led to the Vietnam War. The film leads the audience through a roller-coaster of pivotal history before delving into the largest event of all - 9/11. The film analyzes the steps America took in the aftermath of the disaster, and the suspicious events that followed.

This kid is on track to break a film-making record.  The Friday the 13th franchise has spawned close to a dozen films over a span 30 years.  Avery's putting out his fifth since 2005.  The kid is a directing, writing, editing, researching wanna-be wizard.

That being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing how accurately he portrays these historical events, considering it took him 4 times to re-write, re-edit, and re-mix his theory on 9/11 and still never managed to get it right.

Grab a frosty beverage kids.  This DVD is gonna make one hell of a coaster.

On Socks And Where To Put Them

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

CNN... uhmm.... "commentator" (?) Jack Cafferty is mad as hell and he's not gonna take it anymore.

It's time for the Republican Party to tell former Vice President Dick Cheney to put a sock in it.

Here we are 100 days into the new administration of Barack Obama, and Darth Vader is still wandering around grumbling about why the new administration is all wrong.

100 days, Jack? We had to listen to Carter, Gore, and both Clintons prattle on for 8 YEARS! Oh... and you can add to that mix of former politicians the Janeane Garofalos, the Alec Baldwins, the Barbara Streisands, the Dixie Chicks(es), and every other liberal Hollywood elitist snob delusional enough to feel as though their opinions on well... anything, really... carried more weight than us common folk.

But I guess since all those I just mentioned were liberals speaking out against a conservative president, it didn't warrant a staunch scolding from Mr. Cafferty.

Back then, dissent was patriotic.

Losing Friends... Alienating People...

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

... Par for the course, really when dealing with gay "celebrities" whose arsenal for debating social issues such as gay marriage are limited exclusively to sexist, high-school name-calling.

It's depressing to me that people like Hilton can and will be seen as a "voice for the gay community".  It's equally depressing (although none that shocking) that the media and gay leadership condones his words simply by their silence.

Apparently, the hate speech card is a one-way street going in whatever direction those touting it are pointing.

The Gheys Are Separate... But Are They Equal?

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Texas Christian University to Offer Separate Housing for Gay Students
Eight students have signed up for Texas Christian University's designated on-campus housing for gay students and their supporters, in what may be the only such college housing in North Texas.

The DiversCity Q community will open in the fall in a section of the Tom Brown-Pete Wright apartments. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender students and allies — heterosexual classmates who support them — will have the chance to live together, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in a story posted Tuesday on its Web site.

"It's a chance for students to be part of a unique experience," said David Cooper, TCU associate director for residential life.
Yes... apparently the "unique experience" they're talking about is better known as "segregation". So all this brouhaha about equality is just so gays can move into a residence hall ghetto. Yeah that make sense... No, no it doesn't.

Paltrow Seized With Stupidity

Monday, April 6, 2009

Gwyneth is worried. Apparently your shampoo will kill you and your children:
Gwyneth Paltrow has been branded ‘loopy’ by scientists after warning that products such as shampoo could be linked to cancer.

The actress and wife of Coldplay singer Chris Martin says she was ‘seized with fear’ after reading research about what she calls ‘environmental toxins’ – chemicals which are present in everyday items. [...]

She made the claims on her website goop.com, where she usually airs her views on her favourite restaurants and organic food recipes.

She said: "A couple of years ago I was asked to give a quote for a book concerning environmental toxins and their effects on our children. While reading up on the subject, I was seized with fear about what the research said. Foetuses, infants and toddlers are basically unable to metabolize toxins the way that adults are, and we are constantly filling our environments with chemicals that may or may not be safe."
Unfortunately not everyone (and by everyone I mean knowledgeable people) agree with her. Loopy Goopy Gwyneth's warnings are "rubbish" say scientists:
"It does annoy me when celebrities use their position to spout nonsense. They have a perfect right to their views, even if they are loopy, but they do hold a position of influence. You may as well ask someone on the Underground."
So said Dr. Hugh Pennington, emeritus professor of bacteriology at Aberdeen University.

Oh, and Gwyneth? Dear, if you plan to continue this affected "British-ness" with your speech and spelling at least be consistent. If you spell "fetus" as "foetus" - then spell "metabolize" as "metabolise". The expert conclusion? Don't drink your shampoo by the gallon (sorry - "litre") and you'll be fine, Gwyneth.

Shampoo - It Isn't A Beverage
